Summer greetings from KL Industri: Looking ahead – ready for the next step in the energy transition

At KL Industri, we would like to wish you a wonderful summer – but also take the opportunity to summarize spring 2025. We are in the midst of a time of transition in our industry – and we are ready to make a difference. Together with words from our CEO Tino Gournambassis, we share current perspectives on the industry, our role in the transition, and the road ahead.

A cautious first half – But clear signs of optimism

The past half-year has been marked by a degree of caution in the market. Many customers are in a planning phase where high ambitions for the energy transition need to become reality – they are evaluating, prioritizing, and seeking long-term solutions amid increasing demands and the growing need for expanded infrastructure to support future electricity supply.

“We are seeing more projects being thoroughly prepared before decisions are made,” says our CEO Tino Gournambassis. “This makes our role as an advisory partner even more important. We actively support our customers in the energy transition, even before the investment decisions are made. It’s about building trust and being ready when they are.”

Having our own proven SF6-free switchgear in production – with a modular design and tested equipment – means we can meet market needs quickly and flexibly when demand rises.

Trust that endures – New business and renewed partnerships

Despite a cautious market, KL Industri has both won new contracts and earned renewed trust from long-term clients. This is a testament to our strong offer – technically advanced solutions at the right price. In June alone, we saw a positive increase in incoming orders, which we expect to accelerate in the fall.

We’re especially proud that the values we stand for – quality, personality, and sustainable responsibility – are frequently mentioned as reasons why clients return. For us, each contract extension is more than a transaction – it’s proof that we deliver on our promises and that our solutions work in practice.

“Our vision is to be sustainable over time – as a supplier and as a societal actor. That’s why it also feels great to have strengthened our local community engagement through initiatives such as the LCamp collaboration and our partnership with 10-Mila, held here in Finspång this spring,” says Tino.

Expansion in service – A smarter offering

We are also continuing to grow our service operations, with new hires and expanded service offerings. Our goal is clear: to help customers gain better oversight and control of their facilities – and make it easier to plan for future needs.

“The service of existing facilities is a growing business area that plays a key role in the customer’s overall solution,” says Tino. “It’s not just about troubleshooting or corrective action – it’s a tool for proactive maintenance. Having a clear plan for substations helps reduce costs and increase operational reliability over time.”

Delivery capacity and technology aligned with the new SF6 regulation

We are in the midst of a major technological transition. The SF6 ban, taking effect in 2026, impacts the entire industry – but we’ve chosen to stay ahead. We already deliver SF6-free switchgear on a large scale and have ended sales of SF6-based alternatives.

“We’ve been preparing for this for a long time, both technically and in production. Our unerRING solution offers flexibility and reliability that are in demand – and it’s already installed in both new and retrofit projects across the Nordics,” says Tino.

A key advantage for our customers is our delivery capacity. Thanks to our in-house production of unerRING, we can meet demands with short lead times and higher volumes – something we expect to see more of in the coming half-year.

New EPDs – Clear climate data directly to the customer

Another milestone this year is the launch of our updated EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations), which include the full A1 phase – covering raw material extraction, suppliers, and material production.

This gives our customers access to quality-assured environmental data they can use directly in their own climate reporting.

“Our work with EPDs shows that we take full responsibility – not only for our product, but for its entire life cycle. It’s also an example of how we approach sustainability as something practical and tangible – not just a strategy,” says Tino.

Moving forward with the energy of tomorrow

As we enter the summer period, we feel both proud and optimistic. We expect the demand for climate-smart, reliable, and flexible solutions to grow in the second half of the year – and we know we have the team to meet those needs with expertise, capacity, and industry-leading lead times.

“We want to thank all our customers, partners, and colleagues for a great first half of the year. We now wish everyone a well-deserved summer break – and look forward to taking the next step together this fall,” concludes Tino.
