For an SF6-free future
KL Industri is leading the way toward more sustainable and future-proof solutions. Our new SF6-free power grid substations are a direct response to the EU’s upcoming ban on the use of SF6 in high-voltage equipment, which takes effect on January 1, 2026. We help our customers stay ahead in the transition to a more environmentally friendly power distribution.
Environmentally conscious solutions
We invest in advanced technologies and materials to reduce our carbon footprint. In 2023, we successfully decreased our CO2 footprint by 271,000 kg thanks to our own concrete factory. Our energy-efficient production processes also saved the equivalent of 215,000 kWh of energy and reduced water consumption by 11%.
Life cycle assessments (LCA)
To ensure that our products have the smallest possible environmental impact, we conduct life cycle analyses. This helps us optimize our products from raw material to finished product, focusing on both performance and long-term sustainability.
Efficient production and transportation
Our steel substations are 100% Plug-N-Play, meaning we deliver ready-made solutions with pre-installed transformers. This reduces environmental impact at multiple stages. Additionally, we carefully plan our transports to optimize load capacity and use fossil-free fuels.
Electrification and innovation
We are gradually transitioning to electric forklifts and company vehicles. By using pre-painted steel, we eliminate the need for an in-house painting facility, further reducing our environmental impact.
Certified for the future
KL Industri is certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and holds a BBC certification from NordCert for concrete element manufacturing. This means we have well-established procedures for both quality and environmental management.

By building our power grid substations “from start to finish,” we maintain full control over the entire production process, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance, longevity, and sustainability.
Through investments in modern technology and energy-efficient solutions, such as our own concrete factory, we have become self-sufficient in production and significantly reduced our carbon footprint. We have also modernized our painting processes and minimized paint handling by using pre-coated steel in our products.
Additionally, we actively work to minimize waste and maximize resource efficiency. By utilizing life cycle analyses and focusing on circular economy principles, we ensure that our products have minimal environmental impact.
