Reliable power grid substation deliveries – now and in the future

At KL Industri, our long-term goal is not only to meet but to exceed customer expectations. Reliable deliveries, high precision, and short lead times have always been our trademarks. As the demand for power grid substation grows rapidly, KL Industri continues to take steps forward to ensure that we remain the preferred partner and supplier for our customers – both today and in the future.

The year 2022 brought unprecedented challenges to large parts of the world. The severe humanitarian crises that have unfolded are difficult to comprehend. The ongoing war in Eastern Europe has also created ripple effects that, while not as dire, have impacted society, businesses, and industries worldwide. Shortages of critical materials and disruptions in previously stable supply chains have posed significant challenges for many companies.

In response to these disruptions, KL Industri has spent the past year working intensively to restore balance and secure the delivery capacity that our customers have always associated with us. Fortunately, our ability to deliver is now significantly better than a year ago.

“If a customer provides their own transformers and orders a concrete or metal-clad power grid substation, we are now operating at near-normal lead times and, in many cases, can offer short delivery times. We have steadily increased our production capacity to meet the growing demand from both our customers and the market. Customers placing orders now still have the opportunity to receive their power grid substations within 2023,” says Roger Andersson, Head of Sales and Marketing at KL Industri.

Our Finspång production facility is the heart of our operations. By structuring production as a continuous assembly process, we ensure a smooth and efficient workflow, significantly increasing our capacity while maintaining consistent high quality. Each step in our manufacturing process is fine-tuned to meet customer-specific needs.

“We have a streamlined production flow that allows us to scale up as needed. Instead of having one team build an entire station from start to finish, we move the stations through a structured production flow. This approach allows us to balance our production capacity and adapt delivery capabilities – a major strength, particularly in the current market situation,” explains Roger Andersson.

A future-proof approach
The energy sector is facing major challenges. Society and the market are investing in increased electrification, renewable energy production, and the expansion of EV charging infrastructure. These developments will place greater demands on industry players to deliver smart, scalable technical solutions. KL Industri welcomes these challenges with confidence.

“We have worked hard to reach our current production capacity. We’ve taken action based on customer feedback and our own observations – ranging from deliveries to technical support. Now, we are strengthening our partnerships with suppliers and customers even further, as collaboration will be a key factor in future development.”

At KL Industri, delivering on time is a top priority. Customer needs are at the core of everything we do. Being seen as a trusted partner and contributor to a sustainable society drives us forward. As the leading power grid substation provider in the Nordics, we recognize the responsibility that comes with this position.

“We are always striving for improvement and have worked hard to secure our delivery processes. Through active customer dialogue, including forecast planning, we provide flexibility for our clients to adjust their deliveries as needed. We have also increased our resources to improve availability and technical support. Our entire organization is now stronger and ready to meet future challenges head-on,” concludes Roger Andersson.
